London Place, a 143-unit condominium in downtown Vancouver, doesn't bear much resemblance or association with anything British aside from its name. This concrete building on 1177 Hornby Street was converted from an office tower to residences in 1994.^[1] Some commercial businesses continue to operate out of the ground floor.^[2]

While its exterior brick facade gives the building an older "London" look perhaps, its inside speaks more West Coast with its California-style recreation centre on the rooftop. The hot tub is also located up here.^[3] This common rooftop provides a space for residents to soak up city, mountain, and ocean views considering there are no balconies on the suites. The large windows make up for this lack as well.

One thing London Place has going for it that not many other stratas can boast is free laundry. No keeping quarters or traipsing laundry piles up and down stairs because there are facilities conveniently located on each floor.^[4]
